Wszystkie moje panny eS / All my Silkstone dolls

Jakoś tak zupełnie niepostrzeżenie się ich nazbierało... Paradoksalnie, zwłaszcza ostatnio. A to jakiś preorder przyszedł, a to ktoś z przyjaciół postanowił poprawić mi humor, a to sama leczyłam depresję.

My Silkstone collection has increased without notice... Ironically, especially lately. The preorders came, the other time some of my friends wanted to lift my mood, another day I was curing my depression by buying dolls myself.

I've decided to make a small review while unpacking them all. It's cool that the theme lines in Silkstone dolls are getting more and more differential. On the other hand that's how the series lost it's coherence. Not all of the Silkstone dolls look good together, not all of them keep the same retro style any more.
And also not all of my Silkstones fit in my old Silkstone retro diorama, there's just not enough place. Some of them (especially those "different" ones) ended up on a separate shelf.

So, how about a small beauty contest? Please vote in the poll on the right which of my Silkstone dolls you like the most.

No to lecimy z pokazem, w porządku chronologicznym przybycia do mnie. / Let's start te show. The dolls come in chronological order of arriving at my place.

1. Isabella (Highland Fling).
That's how my Silkstone addiction has started.

2. Greta (A Model's Life)
Lubię ten kontarst kruczych włosów i jej bladej cery. / I like it how her raven hair contrasts with pale skin.

3. Isaura (Toujours Couture)
Moja pierwsza Sila AA. / My first AA Silkstone doll.

4. Izolda (45th Anniversary)
Poor little thing, she came to me naked and in such a bad condition that I was soaking her in water and soap for 3 days, wondering if I can save her long hair. I succeeded and today she wears a dress of the Grand O'le Opry (or whatever you write that) collection.

5. Ilsa (Preferably Pink) od Alienorki.
Uwielbiam jej dziewczęcość i niewinność, a zarazem cudnie dopracowane detale stroju. / I adore her girly and innocent style while wearing a very detailed dress.

6. Choco (Happy Go Lightly) od Oli
She's so sweet. I like so much the way her hair is rooted as well as it's color and make-up.

7. Marlena (The Interview)
Dama w każdym calu. / 11,5 inches of a lady.

8. Rita (Suite Retreat)
Jak mawia moja siostra, mój "najbardziej wkurzony pekińczyk". Ja jednak kocham jej nadętą minkę i kolor włosów.
As my sister says, she's my "angriest Pekingese". But I love her face and hair.

9. Blanca (Debut), którą mam dzięki Królisi.
Klasa sama w sobie i porcelanowa cera. / A class of her own with lovely porcelain skin.

10. Amber (Lingerie #5)
Lalka, w której zakochałam się u Bogny, macając jej okaz. / A doll I felt in love with while admiring the one belonging to Bogna).

11. Grace (The Waitress)
There is potencial in her but I think I'm gonna change her hairstyle and dress.

12. Bezimienna (Palm Beach Swimsuit)
I have a problem with her, so big that I even haven't given her a name. There's something wrong about her, althought I'm not exactly sure what. The dress and brocade, definitelly. That's the first Silkstone doll I didn't like at first. I don't know yet what's gonna happen to her: shall I sell her or maybe try to redress and repaint...?

13. Xenia (Silkstone Russia Mila)
Ją znacie z poprzedniej noty. / You all know her from the previous post.

14*. Iwan (Silkstone Russia Nicolai)
As a guy he's out of the beauty contest ;). However, as a bonus to the previous post, here he is without his fur cap. I'll have to wash off that glue of his hair someday.

Pamiętajcie o ankiecie ;).
Remember to give vote ;).

Silkstone Russia Nicolai Ken & Mila Barbie

Preorder to wspaniały wynalazek.

Preorder is a wonderful invention. One places his order in better days, when he had the time, the power and will to "hunt" for dolly treasures, look for them, to dream of them, to plan and buy. And then, in the middle of an avalanche, when one has already forgotten about it because other matters were more important, he gets that very nice parcel to make his mood better.

For a very long time I could not decide which of my Silkstone dolls is my favorite. Is it innocent and girly Ilsa (Preferably Pink) from Alienora or sweet Choco (Happy Go Lighlty) from Ola or angry and mad Ruby (Suite Retreat), just because she looks so furious and mean.

I have no doubts anymore, the girls lost with... a guy. Nicolai Ken of the new Silkstone Russia series. All the set is very interesting, I think it's the first time when Silkstone dolls got a bit of ethno or cultural charm. It's inspired by the tsars' Russia. Nicolai seems to be an officer. His dress is very nice and detailed, even his dagger (or whatever this is) comes out of the sheath.

Nadałam mu jednak nowe imię. Iwan, po bohaterze jednego z moich ulubionych opowiadań internetowych.

I gave him a new name though. Ivan, after the hero of one of my favorite internet stories.

Razem z nim przyszła jedna z rosyjskich dziewczyn - Mila. Której strój, bardzo luźno inspirowany wzornictwem ludowym, mnie zachwycił.

With him came one of the Russian girls - Mila. I love her dress, loosely based on folk designs.

Jej imię też zmieniłam. Ksenia.

Her name was also changed. To Xenia.

To chyba pierwsza Silka, którą chętnie bym przemalowała.

But I'm not sure if I like her make-up and eye grafitisation. I think it's the first Silkstone doll I'd like to repaint.

Lepiej wygląda z profilu.

She looks better viewed from profile.

Razem wyglądają jednak ślicznie. Z rosyjskiej serii Silek chciałabym jeszcze mieć Verushkę.

They look lovely together. Of the Silkstone Russia series I'd like to have Verushka too.

Family photo

Today just a few lines, because I'm busy sewing again ^^.

My collection now consists of about 50 dolls, some of them of real collectible value, some of not that much valuable but I just like the dolls of the 90s and 80s, some of just sentimental value and some that still need some serious treatment before I will be able to show them (yeah, many still waiting in my drawer for: washing, some small or big repairs, repaint, reroot or restyling...).

Today I want to show You one of my few doll-shelves. The shelf with my most precious dolls, be that in terms of collectible value or in terms of sentiment...

So, here they are:

Back row standing (starting from the left side):

2000 Bowling Champ Barbie (Collector Edition)

2009 Generations of Dreams Barbie (Collector Edition, 50th Anniversary Doll)

2006 Made For Each Other Barbie (Gold Label, Vintage Reproduction)

2006 Silkstone Highland Fling (Gold Label, Silkstone)

2009 Holiday Barbie (Collector Edition, Special Occasion Dolls, still NRFB)

1989 Western Fun Nia (a childhood dream ^^)

Front row sitting (starting from the right), my childhood dolls:

1989 Aqua Magic Ken (a.k.a. Wet'n Wild Ken)

1989 Barbie And The All Stars (You've met her in my previous post)

1990 Hawaiian Fun Skipper

1989 (or 1990?) Christie And The Beat (You've also already met her)

1991 Sparkle Eyes Barbie (sometimes wrongly called in Poland "Diamond Barbie"), since I've already had my "Barbie", in my house this girl got a new name "Jessica" ^^

1995 Color Splash Hair Pocahontas (I liked the tale, but disliked the name, so she also got a new one, "Gouyen" in tribute to one of the brave Apache female warriors)

???? Unknown Ken Doll (You are going to meet him soon ^^), known in my house as "Johnny" ;).

I'm going to post about these dolls (and all my others, that are still waiting for attention, treatment or just a photograph) sooner or later ;).

Oh, and today a few items appeared for sale on my Allegro account, so plz feel free to look around and maybe You're gonna like something ;). My nick is Sigridr ;).

Growing collection

I haven't sewn anything lately, no time basicly and far too much to do at school (but winter vacations coming soon^^) but I've realized that my collection of dolls has grown and well, let's say got upgrated dramatically ;). Two years ago it consisted of my old childhood dolls (which unfortunaltelly are still at my parents house, 300 kilometers away). In 2008 I bought a few new (well, OK, "second hand" 80s and 90s) dolls at our Polish auctions platform. They were actually like "nothing special" in terms of collecting and one might call it my attempt of rescuing them (all of in poor condition and needing restoration). I m still not done with all of them although they r slowly getting better. Perhaps I ll put some pics soon. What is interesting about them, among them were 2 Skippers (which used to be quite rare at Polish market back in the 90s). Anyway, I did not spend much on them.

2009 was a different year. In 2009 I felt in love with Mattel's new playline - the Fashionistas Barbie. As I wrote before, they do need repainting and maybe even rerooting (I m still affraid to do that) but I do love their articulation and posing. And their price allowed me to buy 4 of them (Glam, Artsy, Girly, Sassy). They make great models for sewn outfits and dioramas (yes, I m going to make them too^^).

I also bought my two very first Collector Edition Dolls - the "2009 Holiday Barbie" and the "Generations of Dreams Barbie". I was lucky to find them at a very reasonable price in one of the supermarkets (quite strange, since the CED are quite rare and usually very expensive in Poland I haven't seen any model in a real-world, non-online shop before). I haven't deboxed them yet. I like the "Generations" doll's make-up and general appearance very much but her dress (so prised by some collectors) is not appealing to me so much. I quess I m going to sell off the dress (I know it would decrease general doll's value, but I m not going to sell her any time, for me she's a decorative doll not an investment, so what's the difference?).

But I think I m going to sell off the Holiday one after a year or two so I m not planning to debox her at all. She is a beauty, in stunning dress with wonderfull  jewellery. But somehow her make-up and face mold is not catching my feelings as much as the delicate "Generations". I m also not so much for the "muse model" body type, so "2009 Holiday" doll definitelly can go to a new home ;).

And now 2010... Yeah. Interesting year it's gonna be I tell you... So far I've already bought:

1) another two Fashionistas (Cutie and one deboxed, naked Glam at an online auction),

2) a Fashionistas Ken (the one with a straw-like hat). I love him! Why not all Kens have a body like that? If only he had ball-jointed wrists as well, I would call him perfect.

3) a Fashion Fever Barbie with regular legs and ball-jointed elbows and wrists (she looks like a mixture of a belly-button barbie and a Fashionistas barbie)

4) a NRFB 1990 Western Fun Nia (at an online auction). She was quite expensive, but she was one of my "must haves". Back in the 90s she was my childhood dream (as I was always interested in all ethnic and in any other way different than the most popular blue-eyed blonde dolls). But then she was beyond my access - those "different" dolls were then always very rare in Polish shops and generally in the 90s the Mattell's dolls used to be expensive in the freshly turned to democracy and open market country. My parents could not afford buying me a new original doll every month or so... (and yet They were doing all they could to make me happy and I owe them so much)... So I did not get her or any other doll of that line (I got only one of the outfits) that time and for all of those years she was on my "wish list". One time in 2008 I saw her on an auction and I was even bidding (deboxed and in medium condition) but I lost in last few minutes. This time she was never removed from box and with an extra option "buy it now". So I bought ^^, didn't want to risk that I loose the chance again ;). And I tell you - it's a truly amazing feeling: get the item you wanted so desperately as a child, get it now, in the box of that times and everything and open it now... It's like a travel in time. The little girl inside me can't stop smiling untill now ^^.

5) A NRFB, excellent condition of the box as well, "2006 Gold Label Made For Each Other Barbie Doll Reproduction" for... something about 9$ ^^. Yes, in moments like this I m so happy that I live in a provincional part of Europe - people here sometimes just don't know what they are selling ;).

6) A 2000 Collector Edition "Bowling Champ Barbie" with a Silkstone-like head mold for about 10$ (also an auction finding).

Something tells me, I ll be a busy little bee for the next few months, sewing for all of them ;).  Oh, and BTW, my photo-camera is not working properly so all the pics in this note come from the internet (from the Barbie Collector web page and from the auction which I won), as soon as I fix the camera, I ll put real photos of my girls (and a boy^^).
